The Diocese of Arlington requires all clergy, employees, and volunteers with substantial contact with children to complete adult safe environment training within 45-days of their Office of Child and Youth Protection (OCYP) application being approved. The Diocese of Arlington does not accept every version of Virtus: Protecting God's Children safe environment training.
The Diocese of Arlington will only accept Virtus: Protecting God's Children adult safe environment training if all the following conditions are met:
- The training lasts a minimum of 3 hours,
- The training was presented live, and
- The training was not online and was received in person.
If an individual would like to transfer their training from a different diocese that matches the above criteria, the individual will need to email Virtus (helpdesk@virtus.org) and ask to have that training record transferred to the Diocese of Arlington. Virtus also has a list of dioceses that the Diocese of Arlington accepts.
The only other trainings that the Diocese of Arlington accepts, other than Virtus: Protecting God's Children, include:
- Praesidium adult safe environment training
- Light and Darkness adult safe environment training
Additionally, law enforcement, first responders, federal agencies, DSS/CPS staff are still required to take the Diocesan adult safe environment training regardless of their curent training.
OCYP does not have any plans to add future live virtual online sessions.
