The Catholic Diocese of Arlington requires background check renewals. Renewals take place when either:
- An individual has been working or volunteering for five consecutive years, or
- An individual has stopped working or volunteering for more than 180 days and desires to reactivate their status to be employed or volunteer in the Diocese of Arlington.
These background checks automatically take place two weeks before the five-year anniversary date or when an individual's record is reactivated after a 180-day absence of service or employment.
Additionally, under Federal and Commonwealth law, background checks are not transferable between organizations. All parishes, parish ministries, and diocesan organizations are considered part of the Diocese. Therefore, their background checks are valid in any of these locations.
