VIRTUS Information for Liaisons

The VIRTUS: Protecting God’s Children is the Safe Environment Program used to train Adults on the prevention of child sexual abuse. Individuals use the website to register for a session and are only required to take the training once for the Diocese of Arlington. Please note that the website is a separate entity from your compliance report. The website is only used for training and does not have background check information. We ask Liaisons not to use terms such as “VIRTUS compliant or VIRTUS Certified”. The terms may cause confusion for the Employee/Volunteer on whether they are fully compliant with OPCYP or not. 

Liaisons are given Administration access on the VIRTUS website 

Log into your VIRTUS account to access the Administration tab: 

The Administration tab allows you to do the following: 

  1. View upcoming VIRTUS Sessions scheduled throughout the Diocese
  2. Search individuals account using the “user search engine. You may search individuals by their: user id, first, last, email         

    There are 3 different users: 

  1. Active User: The individual has received credit for attending. 
  2. Awaiting Approval User: The individual has registered for a session, the session has occurred and the individual is “waiting” to receive credit or the individual registered for a session, the session has already occurred and they did not attend the session (this individual will remain as awaiting approval until they attend a session, sign the sign-out sheet and receives credit). 
  3. Pre-Registered User: The individual is currently registered for an upcoming session. 

Why is the admin access important? The compliance report doesn’t always reflect attended training accurately. It’s possible that the VIRTUS website indicates the individual is an “active” user and your compliance report may not reflect the attended training. 

How to Search for an individual on the VIRTUS website

  1. Visit  
  2. Log in on the left-hand side 
  3. Select the Administration Tab at the top
  4. Scroll down to use the User Search engine
    1. Enter information about the user: user id, first or last name or email

Example: Searched by Last Name 

A list of individuals under the same last name will populate. You will be able to view the status and the date of training. 



How to update the individuals VIRTUS training on your Portal

  1. Submit a Ticket on Freshdesk
  2. Subject: Update VIRTUS  
  3. Type of Ticket: Update
  4. Provide a list of individuals that need their training updated on your report. Include:
    1. Compliance ID number 
    2. Full Name as it appears on your portal 
    3. Date of the individuals attended training found on the VIRTUS website. 

How to Print the VIRTUS Certificate of Completion

Provide the individual the steps below: 

  1. Log into
  2. Go to “My Training” tab
  3. Select “Live Training” from the column on the left
  4. Select “Print Certificate”



If the individual has moved to another Parish of the Diocese, the individual may update their location on the VIRTUS website. 

Provide the individual the steps below: 

  1. Visit 
  2. Log in on the left-hand side
  3. Select the Toolbox tab at the top
  4. On the left-hand side select Update my Account
  5. Scroll down to Primary Location and click on the down arrow icon and scroll to your new location. 
    1. If you wish to add multiple locations, select the blue font that states Add/Remove Locations
  6. Select Save
